They have an indoor area to eat as well since it can get very windy up there. They have a large grassy area that overlooks the valley and west mountains of the island while you eat or enjoy your cocktails. We had the Tree Pua'a (highly recommend), Poke Bowl, Da Beast Burger and Cubano Calzone and loved every dish. This was some of the best food on the island that our group had for the whole week we were there. Whoever they have cooking back there needs a raise. We were not expecting their café food to be as good as it was. I'd suggest to get there early if you're coming from the resorts in Kaanapali or Lahaina since the roads are two lanes and can get backed up (we got slowed down due to traffic). Sarah was informative and brought the information, and drinks, with a fun and upbeat attitude. We had a large group show up late to our tour/tasting and Sarah was able to help us out with a "shortened" tour/tasting. The quality of their product is some of the best I've had, especially on Maui. This place is amazing! The staff is kind, professional and fun. It would be great if there was a way to see the entire falls without being in danger. There is a sign that you cannot go past due to rocks coming over the falls. It was a great hike, however, you cannot hike all the way to the falls. We had a table by the window so we were able to watch their beautiful garden.Ī few days later, we did the Road to Hana & hiked the Waimoku Falls trail on the other side of the park. I would dress in layers because we got hot hiking down, then when we walked through the cloud going back up, we got wet & cold again.Īfter we came down the mountain we ate a delicious lunch at the Kula Lodge restaurant. We saw some amazing views & hiked through a cloud back up. We hiked almost to the crater about 2-1/2 miles down. After we saw the sunrise, we ate breakfast which I had brought with us, then we took the Sliding Sands trail. My fingers turned purple trying to take pics. We felt sorry for the people in flip flops & shorts. We had wind breakers & blankets, but I wish I had brought beanies & gloves too. It was FREEZING, even in June, so bundle up. Once that parking lot is full, you have to park down at the visitor center. The wall around the overlook is the best place to watch the sunrise. The ranger was closing the gate to the parking lot. National Park employees, if you are reading this, put guard rails on that road!! When we got to the park, there was only 1 parking spot left at the top where the overlook is. The road on the way up in the dark is SCARY, SCARY! After you enter the park, there are NO guard rails & you are driving along cliffs. We got up at 3 am & drove to the top to see the sunrise which was AMAZING! It seems crazy to get up at 3 am while on vacation, but it was so beautiful! It is a special memory that I will never forget!
